Are You In Need Of Windshield Replacement In Fayetteville, Arkansas?

There are virtually endless scenarios which can lead to windshield damage.  This is especially true in an area such as Fayetteville where risks traditionally associated with either urban or rural areas are both present. If your vehicle has a broken windshield or any type of auto glass damage, then 1-800-Windshield can help you.  We help prevent further vehicle damage and personal injuries by providing quick repair at a great price.

There are multitudes of ways that auto glass can be damaged. You could be driving on I-540 when the rear doors of the semi-truck in front of you swing open, allowing boxes to fly out and crack your windshield.  You could be tailgating before the Razorbacks game when a football gets thrown at your front windshield and creates damage. Regardless of the cause, damage to glass can be very serious and should be repaired immediately.

Why do I need to repair a broken windshield?

Although most do not realize it, windshields serve a number of very important functions.  Auto glass is no longer able to do its job as well once damaged.  The potential negative impacts of a broken windshield are:

  • Constantly worsening windshield damage
  • Airborne objects striking vehicle interiors and occupants at high speeds.
  • Natural forces such as precipitation, temperature extremes, and wildlife entering the vehicle
  • Reduction in the ability to clearly see through the glass
  • Accidental collisions resulting from reduced visibility
  • Vehicle damage from airborne objects, natural forces, or accidental collisions
  • Personal injuries from airborne objects, natural forces, or accidental collisions
  • Financial loss from repair and medical bills

How is a windshield repaired?

There are several distinct methods of windshield repair, and which one is chosen for your vehicle will be determined by a number of factors.  In general, the method of repair will be determined by whether or not the auto glass can be salvaged.

  • Salvageable Auto Glass. Minor damage does not always necessitate an entirely new windshield if corrective steps are taken quickly enough.  Damage which doesn’t interfere with the functionality and safety of a windshield would not need to be repaired if it were not for the tendency to spread.  Minor chips and scratches will eventually transform into every growing cracks, cracks which will eventually render the windshield useless.  This spread can be prevented through the use of adhesive chemicals.  These chemicals are applied to the damaged area by specialized tools, where they stick to the broken glass.  As the adhesives dry, they firmly attach the sides of the damage together, and prevent the damage from spreading.
  • Unsalvageable Auto Glass. Adhesives are not all-powerful, and they are often incapable of saving a windshield.  Damage which has already extended all the way through the glass such as cracks is probably too far along to halt its growth.  Damage which is found on multiple locations throughout a windshield may have permanently compromised the integrity of the auto glass as a whole, even if each individual bit of damage could be repaired on its own.  Since chemicals rarely restore the original clarity of the undamaged glass, some damage would leave the driver with an unsafe level of reduced visibility if it is located in the driver’s direct line-of-sight.  In circumstances such as these, the only safe thing to do is to install a new windshield.

How much will it cost to repair or replace my auto glass?

That depends on a number of factors.  The most important factor is whether or not repair is possible.  If you vehicle can be repaired, your costs will likely range from $30 to $200.  If your windshield must be replaced, your costs will be significantly higher, because the costs of materials and labor will be significantly higher.  Depending on the make, model, and year of your vehicle and the availability of necessary parts, replacement will typically cost between $200 and $1,500.  In any case, you may not be responsible for the entire cost, as most auto insurance providers will cover at least part of the cost for necessary windshield repairs.
