Looking For Expedient Windshield Repair In Santa Barbara, California?

If you are driving with windshield damage in Santa Barbara, then 1-800-Windshield is who you need to call.  Sometimes the unexpected can happen and result in damge to our auto glass. Imagine enjoying the drive down State Route 1 when the cargo of a wine-shipping truck comes loose, sending bottles flying into your windshield and cracking it.  You could on your way to the ferry to the Channel Islands when the car ahead slams on their brakes, causing you to rear-end them and shattering the glass in your vehicle.  You could even be watching your child’s Little League game when a surprise home run goes straight through your rear window.  No matter the cause, you are in need of auto glass repair.

Who can I trust to repair my windshield in Santa Barbara?

Why repairing  a broken windshield is necessary

As the name suggests, windshields serve to protect vehicles and their occupants just like a shield.  They defend us from injury caused by windborne objects and natural elements.  This protection is especially important in those areas of Santa Barbara with the most vehicle activity where debris is most likely to be found.  They also provide a clear view of what's ahead, which would not be possible without the use of transparent auto glass.  Even minor damage should be repaired as quickly as possible to prevent it from growing into a more expensive repair down the road.  Among the many negative consequences that may result from windshield damage are:

  • Injury and vehicle interior damage from windborne objects such as chunks of asphalt and yard waste
  • Injury, irritation, and vehicle interior damage from natural elements such as insects and rain
  • Accidental Collisions caused by reduced visibility
  • Injury and vehicle damage caused by accidental collisions
  • Worsening windshield damage as time goes by
  • Financial loss from vehicle repairs and medical bills
  • Stress and frustration

Methods of windshield repair

  • Adhesive Chemicals. Minor windshield damage is often not problematic on its own, as the reduction in vision and exposure to the outside world it causes is minimal.  However, small damage frequently transforms into damage that would necessitate a comparatively expensive windshield replacement.  Further damage can be prevented through the use of scientifically-designed adhesives.  These chemicals bind to the sides of the damage and seal them.  This prevents the damage from spreading.  When possible, repair has a number of advantages, chief among them cost and completion time.  Repairs with adhesives generally cost less than $200 and take less than a few hours.
  • Full Replacement. Unfortunately, adhesives are not capable of fixing all windshields.  They cannot handle extensive damage, replace missing pieces of glass or restore the clarity of the glass. Some damage which would be possible to repair might leave the driver with a permanently compromised view of the road.  In such circumstances, a new windshield is the only option. Replacement is almost always considerably more expensive than repair, and also takes much longer to do.  Replacement costs and times vary greatly, depending on the type of vehicle and availability of replacement parts. Most windshields can be replaced for between $200 and $1,500, and the process normally takes several hours once started.
