What repairs can you make?

Not all damage to your vehicle’s glass can be repaired. Chips and small cracks, as long as they are not in the driver’s field of vision, can often be repaired, saving you both time and money. However, there are times when the entire unit does have to be replaced due to extensive damage or the location of the damage. We will be able to guide you through the repair process once we have examined your vehicle.

What kinds of damage might we expect for you to find?

  • Large Cracks and Bull’s Eyes – These two types of damages are quite obvious. Both will interfere with your field of vision when you are driving and will usually will require full window replacement.
  • Small Cracks and Dings – This is the kind of damage which you may not be aware of, even though you drive your car every day. When your windshield receives an impact of any kind, even one so small as a pebble bouncing up from the roadway, small damages may occur. Occasionally, a small chip is broken completely out of your window or windshield. Other times, small, hairline cracks will appear along the outer edge of your windshield. Both of these damages can usually be repaired, saving you money down the road.

A complete examination of your auto glass is sometimes needed to find other, more obscure damage.  California law requires that any damage to the front or rear windows, that impairs your vision in any way, needs to be repaired.

Should we be concerned about this damage?

First, you have to be concerned about the law. Getting a citation for damaged auto glass is always an issue you will have to contend with.  It is better just to get it fixed.  More important, are the safety factors.

  • Impaired Field of Vision – Because of the number of cars and trucks, bikers and hikers, and children and pets that are part of today’s driving experience, it is so important that your vision is never obstructed in any way. When the damage from bull’s eyes and large cracks interfere with your field of vision, it is time to get your auto glass repaired for your safety, and the safety of those around you.
  • Vehicle Integrity – Today’s autos are designed to provide you and your occupants with as many safety features as possible. This includes the structural strength of the vehicle, the strength of the auto glass itself, and the safety features inside of the automobile. Compromised auto glass will affect all three of those areas. In the event of an accident, damaged windshields and rear windows can collapse.  This could allow outside objects to enter the passenger area of your vehicle or for the occupants of the vehicle to be thrown from the vehicle. The structural strength of the vehicle is greatly diminished when any of your vehicle’s windows are damaged.  This can result in your vehicle sustaining greater damage and putting you at greater risk.
  • Affect On Safety System - Finally, safety devices, like airbags, cannot function properly without your auto glass being securely in place, and able to withstand further impact.
