Has Your Vehicle's Windshield Been Damaged in Jonesboro, Georgia?

Vehicles in everywhere, including Jonesboro, are at constant risk of windshield damage.  Trash thrown carelessly from other cars can scratch windshields on the highway. Chunks of asphalt flung into the air by truck tires can chip auto glass.  Even falling branches can shatter entire windshields of cars parked beneath them. There's endless ways that your auto glass can suffer damage. If your vehicle's windshield has any kind of distress or damage, then you need to have it repaired before it gets worse.  Give 1-800-Windshield a call today and let us show you how we can help.

How is a windshield repaired?

Every individual case of windshield damage is unique and requires a slightly different form of repair.  However, most auto glass repair falls into one of two broad categories.

  • Repair with Adhesives. A number of special adhesives have been developed specifically for windshield repair.  These adhesives are inserted into cracks, chips, and scratches through the use of purpose-designed tools.  Upon entry, adhesives bind damaged areas together, such as the opposite sides of a crack.  Adhesives serve two primary purposes.  They seal the area, preventing outside elements from entering the damaged area and the interior of the vehicle.  They also help to stop the damage from growing in size and severity.  Repair with adhesives is normally quite a bit less expensive than other options and also typically takes less time to complete.
  • Full Auto Glass Replacement. Adhesives are quite effective for many cases of windshield damage, but there are limits as to what they can achieve.  They obviously cannot glass which is entirely missing.  They also cannot stabilize windshields that have been extensively damaged over a wide area.  They also cannot fully restore the original clarity of the unbroken glass, which can leave the driver without a full line-of-sight of the road depending on where the damage is located.  Because of these limitations, windshields must sometimes be replaced.  In order to replace a windshield, all remaining auto glass must be removed and new parts must be installed.  This process requires more expensive components and more man hours.  This makes replacement more expensive and time consuming than repair.

How much time and money will I spend?

Cost of windshield repair and replacement, as well as the time required for completion, varies tremendously due to a number of factors.  However, most vehicle owners will see them fall into one of two ranges based on the general type of repair necessary.

  • Cost and Time Necessary for Repair with Adhesives. Where repair is possible, the cost will be determined by the extent and location of the damage, as well as the type of damage. These factors influence the type of materials and the amount of labor necessary.  Minor repairs may cost as little as $30 and take less than an hour, while significant repairs could cost in excess of $250 and take several hours.
  • Cost and Time Necessary for Full Auto Glass Replacement. Replacement of auto glass is more expensive and time consuming than repair, sometimes significantly so.  The make, model, and year of the vehicle are the most important variables, as they dictate the potential replacement options, as well as the installation time necessary.  Replacement parts which are hard to find may raise costs even further, as can customer preference on what glass is to be used in the replacement.  Some windshields may cost as little as $200 to replace, while others may cost in excess of $1,500.
